ABSTRACT
This thesis is a part of Higher diploma course in the Lao-Top College, it is important for Lao students to know the perception towards English of Lao students on whether to study for degree or not. The objective of this research is to find out percentage of Lao students only year 4 at Academy of Economics and Finance who know about English Language, the research set 5 parts below:
Studying is essential for a person to develop a complete education and provides students with the opportunity to develop study habits, time management skills and self-discipline. Studying also aids in the student’s ability to learn providing the student with knowledge that they can use throughout their life regardless of the career path that they choose.
To find out the attitudes of students at Academy of Economics and Finance, problems and some ways to motivated them in learning English.
The methodology was designed to target population. The questionnaires were generated to use as a tool for collecting the data from the selected sample by using program SPSS. The data collecting form was divided in to threes parts.
The findings were that they can do well and percent is good for them and they have high understood to do questionnaire.
The 3 reasons they want to study English: They want to speak English well and find a good job. They think English is very important for present and future, because they can use it for communicated and contact the business and they can travel around the word. English is international language; they like to speaking English and they want to improve them self and develop country. According to the collected data and analysis, institute characteristics including they interested in learning English, English is important for them, and they study English 1-2h per week in this Academy. They study English to form a profession, to developed themselves internationally, to communicate, to further study abroad, and some students use English for easily watch movies, listen to music and read books
