This thesis is a part of higher diploma course in the Lao-Top College, it is important for students to know the awareness towards learning English. The objective of this research is to find out student’s awareness class 5/2 and 6/2 at Phonethane secondary school. The research set 5 parts as follows:
Language is central to education. It is communicated; an object of study; beliefs that are important in education. Nowadays, English has the global language. Approximately 470 million people around the world currently speak English. One of them included in Laos, especially Phonethane secondary school, we try to improve educational about how to improve the quality of teaching and learning. The purpose of this study is in order to be student’s awareness toward learning English at Phonethane secondary school as it is important life skill, comprehension the essential to English in daily routine and to examine their awareness and behavior in learning English. The study indicate that there are significant in their awareness toward learning English at their school level.
To find out student’s awareness toward learning English and to find out their behavior toward learning English. The decision making on whether to study for Phonethane secondary school to comprehend the situation and find ways to enhance studying at others secondary school.
I perform my research at Phonethane secondary school. The based location is in Phonethane village, Seysettha district, Vientiane capital. The population consisted of a group of 72 students. The reason that I choose this number because all students have 72 in class 5/2 and 6/2. The research followed a quantitative analysis and the collected data was analyzed by the SPSS Program.
The overall results reveal that the students have high or positive awareness factors in learning English. The majority of students 80% know well about English language. Students have the high understanding about English. This is a good for them and so important to study learners’ personalities. Cognitive performance can be achieved if the learners possess positive awareness and enjoy acquiring the target
language. However, their behavioral aspect of towards learning English has negative ways included non-attentiveness, low motivation and distraction. These are quite a big problem in fact. For that reason, the awareness, especially behavior, should be considered in this research.
This study illustrates that most of students have the high awareness about English. This is a good for them and so important to study students’ personalities. Cognitive performance can be achieved if the students possess positive awareness and enjoy acquiring the target language.
