ABSTRACT
This thesis is a part of higher diploma degree at Lao-Top college with the topic being “Student Awareness on Using Adjectives: a case study at Patthana High School.” English has been an international language in which you can communicate with a billion people in the world, and in order to use English correctly we should study an important part of the structure which is adjectives.
In this study the researcher attempted to know student understanding on using adjectives in identifying and using adjectives.
The objective of this research is:
- To better understand student awareness on using adjectives.
- To find out how much students understand about adjectives.
- To find out how much students understand about classifying parts of speech, one of which is adjectives.
The research includes five chapters, such as chapter 1: introduction, chapter 2: literature review, chapter 3: methodology, chapter 4: result and chapter 5: conclusion. Questionnaires were distributed on July10, 2020 to the students who were studying at Patthana High School.
After the researcher presented literature review for this study, he designed a test to collect data from randomly sample chosen. The participants included three classes in high school, class from Patthana High School. The researcher used questionnaires for the main tool to collect the information and data. The questionnaire has 2 parts. (1) part was personal information that consists of seven questions such as gender, age, class, duration of study, level, and time for studying per day. (2) was to find out student comprehension on identifying adjectives at Patthana High School that consists of 14 questions and adjective order for 7 questions. (3): to complete a comparative adjective. Finally, the results of this study shown that over 60% students are able to differentiate adjectives. The researcher presented some recommendations and suggestions for further study.
